Your guide to working with
The Content Works
Everything from budgets and timelines to choosing the right format for your brand, here’s everything you need to know about working with us.
How much does it cost?
The price of each job is determined by the amount of production time and setup required. We work on clear, itemised budgets with fixed rates to ensure consistency and value.
How long does the process take?
The time taken for each job will vary according to its needs. The average video normally takes a few days of planning, production and then a week or so for editing and amends. Podcasts can be turned around in a couple of days.
What are your payment terms?
Our payment terms are normally in line with the industry standard practice of 50% in advance of production and 50% invoiced on delivery of the final files.
Do you need a full brief?
The simple answer is ‘no’. We can work from just a basic idea, but a brief of some sort will make it easier for everybody involved to understand what is required and how best to achieve it.
What makes you different from any other production company?
We have a unique combination of people, who are diverse in their backgrounds and experience. Our experience in live radio and television creating content for literally millions of people daily, means we know how audiences work and how to reach them.
Do you just work in London?
Although we are based in Central London, our work takes us all over the world. We have worked across the UK, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. We have a lot of experience of ‘flyaway’ jobs and conversely host visiting crews who need local assistance in the UK.
Can you look after distribution as well as production?
This depends on the job. For podcasts, we will work with you on every aspect of the creative process including distribution. For video we may suggest trusted partners who specialise in optimising content, so it reaches the intended audience effectively.
How do livestream and virtual events work?
In its simplest form, livestreams and virtual events are live productions with the majority of the audience watching from a remote location. There are various basic elements to consider such as the programme, the content and the platform. We use our live television experience to plan and deliver this kind of events.
What’s the smallest budget you can work with?
This is defined by the scope of work. Podcast production starts at around £1,000 per episode. Video production normally carries a minimum of £3,000.
How important is diversity to The Content Works?
As the company was founded by Des who comes from an ethnic minority background, diversity is vitally important to The Content Works. The media industry still has a lot of work to do to widen its appeal to people from diverse backgrounds and we are constantly looking at how we can do our bit. We are proud to be a mentor for Media for All – an organisation focused on improving opportunities for people in the media industry.
How do I choose between video and podcast content for my brand?
At The Content Works, we believe both video and podcast content have unique strengths. Video is ideal for visually showcasing your brand, products, or services and can include everything from brand films to social media content and corporate comms. Podcasts, on the other hand, offer a more intimate and engaging way to build brand awareness and foster deeper connections with your audience. They are also highly cost-effective and can be produced in both audio and video formats. We can help you decide which medium best suits your goals or offer a combination for a more comprehensive approach.
Can you manage large-scale, multi-location productions?
Yes, we have extensive experience handling multi-location productions both in the UK and internationally. Whether it’s a livestream broadcast, a corporate video, or a podcast recording, we can coordinate teams and technology across different locations, ensuring a seamless experience. Our past work with clients like Nissan, Dubai Tourism, and Burberry has taken us across the globe, and we are well-versed in managing the logistics and challenges of large-scale productions.
